Camel caravan crossing the desert near Zagora

Zagora · M'Hamid El Ghizlane · Erg Chegaga

The Zagora desert, by camel.

Camel rides, nights in a nomad tent and multi-day treks in the dunes. I take you there and take care of everything.

Welcome

Here the road ends. The desert begins.

My name is Mustapha. I work in tourism in Zagora, the town where caravans once set off for Timbuktu.

With my camels and my team, I take you into the dunes: for two hours, for one night, or for several days all the way to Erg Chegaga, past M'Hamid El Ghizlane.

Send me your dates on WhatsApp. I reply with a program and a clear price.

Tours

Three ways to experience the desert

Every tour is done with real camels, real nomad tents and food cooked on site.

Have something else in mind?

Family, couple, group, photographer, school trip: tell me what you want to experience and how much time you have. We build the program together.

  2. Nomad tent and low sun over the dunes
    Sunset

The sun sets over the dune

We climb a dune to watch the sun go down. Time for photos, and for silence.

  3. Campfire embers in the evening at the camp
    Evening

    Fire, dinner and stars

Bread baked under the embers, mint tea, dinner in the tent. Far from any town, the sky is full of stars.

  4. Breakfast served on a rug in the desert
    Morning

    Sunrise and breakfast

Wake up to the light on the dunes. Breakfast at camp, then ride back by camel.

No agency in between. You talk to me.

When you write on WhatsApp, I am the one who answers. I tell you what is possible, what time to leave, what to bring, and how much it costs.

On the ground, I know the tracks, the dunes and the quiet spots for the camp. My job: you enjoy the desert without worrying about anything.

Where we go

From Zagora to the great dunes

Zagora lies in the Draa Valley, about 3 hours by road from Ouarzazate. Around it: the palm groves, the green pottery of Tamegroute and the small Tinfou dunes.

Further south, about 2 hours past Zagora, the road ends in M'Hamid El Ghizlane. Then comes the track: about 60 km to Erg Chegaga, the largest sea of dunes in the region.

We agree on the meeting point together on WhatsApp, depending on the tour.

FAQ

Questions people ask me

How much does a desert tour cost?
The price depends on the length (ride, one night, several days), the number of people and the season. Send me your dates on WhatsApp: I reply with a clear price, no surprises.
Where do we start?
Depending on the tour, we start from Zagora or from M'Hamid El Ghizlane. We agree on the meeting point together on WhatsApp.
What is the best time to go?
From October to April the days are pleasant. In winter the nights are cold: bring a fleece. In summer it is very hot: we go out early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Read the seasons guide.
Do I need to know how to ride a camel?
No. The camel walks slowly and is led on foot by a cameleer. We help you get on and off.
Is it possible with children?
Yes, the camel ride and the desert camp are great for families. Tell me the children's ages and I adapt the length and the program.
What should I bring?
A scarf or a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, a small torch, and something warm for the night. We take care of the rest.
How long does it take to get to Erg Chegaga?
From M'Hamid El Ghizlane there are about 60 km of track. That is about 2.5 hours by 4x4, or several days by camel with the caravan.
How do I book?
Only on WhatsApp: send your dates and the number of people. I reply with the program and the price.
