From M'Hamid El Ghizlane there are about 60 km of track to Erg Chegaga, the largest dune field in the region. On foot and by camel it takes several days. It is slow, calm and far from everything.

Leave M'Hamid
We load the caravan and head into the desert. Lunch in the shade, first camp in the evening.

Dunes, stony plains and oases
We walk in the morning and late afternoon, and rest during the hot hours. Sand-baked bread, tea, nights in the tent.

Good to know
- We walk about 4 to 5 hours a day, with a long break at midday. You can ride the camel whenever you want.
- The best period is October to April.
- Bring good walking shoes, a sleeping bag if you have one, and a pouch for your papers.
